Qualification Overview
The CHC50125 Diploma of Early Childhood Education and Care qualification reflects the role of educators who are responsible for designing, implementing, and managing curriculum in early childhood education and care services. It equips learners with advanced theoretical knowledge and practical leadership skills to ensure compliance with the Education and Care Services National Regulations and the National Quality Standard (NQS).
This qualification has been contextualised by Allora College to meet Queensland workforce and compliance expectations under the Skills Assure Supplier (SAS) framework. Learners will develop the capability to support and guide other educators, foster inclusive learning environments, and implement curriculum that promotes children’s wellbeing, learning, and holistic development in accordance with the Early Years Learning Framework (EYLF) and My Time, Our Place (MTOP).
On successful completion, graduates will be qualified to take on leadership and supervisory roles in ACECQA-approved early childhood settings, including long day care, family day care, kindergartens, and preschool programs, ensuring delivery of high-quality education and care services consistent with national and state legislation.

Entry Requirements
Education
Entry to this qualification is open to individuals who hold:
- CHC30121 Certificate III in Early Childhood Education and Care OR
- CHC30113 Certificate III in Early Childhood Education and Care.
Alternatively, individuals may hold:
- An Australian diploma in Early Childhood Education and Care OR
- An Australian diploma or certificate III in Children’s Services. AND
- Demonstrate at least 12 months of cumulative employment (full-time equivalent) within the last 5 years in a regulated education and care service in Australia, supported by verifiable evidence. OR
- Hold the CHCSS00147 Entry into Diploma of Early Childhood Education and Care.
In addition, following conditions form part of the eligibility criteria for the admission.
| Age | Prospective student(s) who are below the age of 18 years during the time of application are required to provide signed consent of their parent/ guardian to enrol in this course. |

| Work Placement | Students are required to complete 280 hours of work placement to earn this qualification. Students will be required to work shifts based on the rosters developed by your work placement provider, including mornings and nights, or any day of the week, including public holidays. Where possible, college will assist students to find suitable work placement options. |
| Working with Children Check (Blue Card) | Students must undertake Working with Children check and apply for a Blue Card. This is one of the mandatory requirements of this qualification and must be done at course commencement. Failing to obtain a Blue Card will mean you will not be allowed work placement or perform other assessments which will affect your course outcome. You are advised to speak with one of our course coordinators if you have concerns regarding the Blue Card application. There would be an additional fee for Blue card application (excluding volunteers, students, or exemption card applicants). |
| Assessment Items | Students must complete series of assessments to successfully gain this qualification. The assessments may include online quizzes, knowledge questions, related case studies and roll play. |

Practical Components
Students undertaking this course must complete a mandatory 280-hour work placement with an authorised education and care service provider in Australia. This provider should offer a suitable variety of tasks and child-to-staff ratios, and students must have access to a qualified supervisor who holds a minimum of Certificate III in Early Childhood Education and Care or an equivalent qualification.
Vaccination Requirements
The facility hosting your placement may have specific vaccination requirements. These requirements will be communicated to you before your placement arrangements are finalized.
It is advised to undergo vaccination screening to meet Queensland Health’s mandatory vaccination standards. Some facilities might require the following vaccinations:
- COVID-19
- Hepatitis A and B
- Measles-mumps-rubella (MMR) (a second dose is needed for those born in or after 1966 who have had only one dose)
- Chickenpox (if not previously infected)
- Pertussis (whooping cough – adult booster dose)
- Influenza (annual vaccination)

Fees for self-funded students. The Fee for Service is applied when a student is not eligible for or already exhausted the subsidy at that level or where no subsidies are available under their current visa arrangement.

2. Career Boost General Training Pathway – “Funded by the Queensland Government”
This Course is subsidised under the Queensland VET Investment Plan administered by the Department of Trade, Employment and Training’s (DTET)
To be eligible to enrol in the Career Boost General Training Pathway (Queensland Government Funded), prospective participants must meet the following eligibility criteria:
- aged 15 years or older;
- not be a school student;
- permanently reside in Queensland; be an Australian citizen, or Australian permanent resident (includes humanitarian entrant), or a temporary resident with the right visa and work permits on the pathway to permanent residency, or a New Zealand citizen; not already have a certificate IV or higher qualification (including tertiary qualification) completed within the last 10 years (qualifications completed as a school student and foundation skills qualifications do not count).
Note: This eligibility requirement does not apply to individuals seeking to enrol in a skill set; - not be enrolled in another qualification, even if it is on hold or deferred, whether funded by DTET or not (foundation skills qualifications do not count)

Co-contribution Fee represents the total non-government subsidised portion of essential training costs for the participant to undertake the qualification. This fee includes total cost to the student to enrol, undertake training and be awarded the qualification.

3. Career Boost Apprenticeship/traineeship Pathway (Queensland Government Funded)
The program provides the flexibility for apprentices, trainees and their employers to select a preferred registered training organisation (RTO) from a list of pre-qualified suppliers for the delivery of nationally recognised, accredited training to meet their specific needs. The program works in conjunction with the Commonwealth Australian Apprenticeships System, under which apprentices and trainees (also known in some jurisdictions as “Australian Apprentices”) enter into legally binding training contracts with their employers and receive structured training to achieve a nationally recognised qualification.
To be eligible to receive government subsidised training, the apprentice or trainee must:
- be currently employed in a Queensland apprentice or trainee (under a training contract)
- not be enrolled in another qualification
- be undertaking a funded apprenticeship or traineeship qualification
- have selected a government-approved training provider
- not have completed 2 funded apprenticeships or traineeships within the last 10 years. Limits apply to funded program access – check the eligibility for your preferred program—Career Start or Career Boost.

c) Free apprenticeships for under 25s:
To be eligible, you must:
- be currently employed as a Queensland apprentice or trainee (under a training contract) in a high priority apprenticeship and traineeship qualification
- have commenced (or were already undertaking) your apprenticeship or traineeship between 1 January 2021 and 30 June 2027
- be aged under 25.
